It happened. Your wedding gown got stained during the craziness of the reception. Rather than having a mini panic attack, use the following pre-stain tips for treating common Big Day dress  disasters. It will help your dry cleaners out considerably!

Chocolate

Soak the affected area in cold water to remove chocolate proteins from the gown and otherwise loosen the stain. Use dishwasher detergent to gently scrub the area. You may want to use a clean toothbrush, but take care not to scrub too vigorously, as you will damage the gown's fibers.

Candle Wax

Place frozen peas or other frozen, packaged food next to the wax on your gown. Let it freeze the wax for a few hours before chipping away at the stuff with a spoon. Do not us a knife, as you could damage the dress fibers or create a hole. Once you're finished chippin', put the affected area on your ironing board. Place an old towel you don't care about ruining over the gown and set your iron on top of the towel for 20 to 30 seconds. The heat should pull the wax away from the dress. The towel absorbs it.

Beverages

Spray a white vinegar mixture (2/3 water to 1/3 vinegar) on tea, coffee, or soda dress stains.  Let the mixture stand for a minute before gently rubbing the gown with a soft, clean toothbrush or cloth.

Keep these tips in mind to prepare your dress for the dry cleaner! Know of any other wedding gown pre-stain tips? Share them in the comments!
